One might not have guessed that the founder of a multimillion dollar real estate company, a renowned musician and philanthropist used to couch hop among family and friends while struggling with homelessness, but that is exactly what Matt Kirkegaard, founder of Movement Property Group (Keller Williams) did.

Prior to becoming the uber successful real estate agent, musician, family man and world traveler that he is today, Kirkegaard faced some difficult circumstances that left him with a large hole to climb out of. Surprising for someone with so much promise as the talented musician once turned down an invitation to attend The Juilliard School at just 14 years old, opting instead to pursue composition and a solo career.

That would prove the right move, considering he has now recorded two albums in 2017’s Stories of India and Love Undefined (2021). Additionally, he has also reached rockstar status in having hosted the popular streaming, The American Dream, a lifestyle and real estate show.

Kirkegaard created ‘Make Nashville Your Home’ in 2015 and, after propelling his real estate career to great lengths, and earning numerous accolades, including Top 10 agent in the highest-volume office in the state of Tennessee, he pivoted his career and founded the multimillion dollar Movement Property Group, where he is honored each year as a Top 100 Realtor for his efforts in the Tennessee housing market.

Movement Property Group offers expert buying and selling advice and services to an otherwise complicated housing market. It serves both the East and West Nashville, Germantown, Franklin, Brentwood, Forest Hills, Green Hills, Belle Meade, and 12 South areas.

Serving Family, Community and the World

Among Kirkegaard’s children, two were adopted from India. Welcoming them into a loving family was a privilege and rewarding experience, but it also prompted him to serve alongside the Alliance of Freedom, Restoration, and Justice (AFRJ). He resides as the Chair of the Individual Membership of the Freedom Council and has made it his mission to play an active role in in helping abolish human trafficking and modern-day slavery.

Kirkegaard also initiated a philanthropic fund at Movement Property Group called, LiftUp. This non-profit fund, which gathers 10% of closing net revenue, provides assistance to families and individuals who may be struggling with meeting their monthly rent or mortgage payments. It also goes toward providing relief to those affected by unfortunate events and circumstances.

Movement Property Group also remains committed to enhancing the East Nashville housing market, playing a key role in offering services to the forthcoming Shelby Green Development community. The project has already broken ground and will see nearly 20 homes being built along the Shelby Golf Course in the summer of 2020. The location is prime for those relocating to or within the community, as it is within walking distance of iconic restaurants and venues.

“Don’t wait to jump. Buy anything. Either you can capitalize on the growth in Nashville or someone else will,” stated Kirkegaard.
