Five Ways To Keep The Fire Burning At Work

Some people love their jobs and everything about it. That might be a shock to some of us, but it’s true. Such people exist. They love the time put in, the energy spent, and the burst of dopamine when they get to a milestone. Plus, these people don’t need a bunch of motivational quotes to get pumped about their work. That’s beautiful, and it’s hard not to be envious of them.

If you’re in that group, we give you two thumbs up. If you aren’t, then this article is for you. You’ve probably had some moments while running your business when you’d rather be doing anything else. There’s no need to beat yourself up about it. A lot of us have had those moments too.

That’s why Sellvia, true to its goal of boosting productivity for small businesses, has come up with a few tips on how to stay motivated at work. Let’s get to them, shall we?

  • Surround yourself with people that will motivate you.

Most times, motivation comes like a candle. It’ll only catch when there are other flames from which to take. There’s little as motivating as looking sideways to see someone else hard at work when you can’t find the zeal to start.

You have to choose an environment conducive to your efforts to build a lasting business. An environment that would feed the flame of your zeal and encourage it to grow.

  • Break up heavy tasks into discreet little chunks.

Heavy, complicated tasks are the bane of your motivation. There are few things as demoralizing as knowing that you have “a ton of work to do.” But it shouldn’t be that way. Instead of a few large tasks, how about many little goals? This arrangement gives you a sense of progress and direction, and it can also increase your speed.

If you know the order to tackle a massive project, you do it faster. You’ve effectively cut off the time spent wondering what you’d do next. That drive is essential for your motivation.

  • Try not to exude negative vibes.

That might seem like a difficult task, and it is. But it is necessary for every business, especially if you have employees. Your attitude towards the work you have to do usually affects those around you. And the negative attitude which you gave those people would still bounce back and make yours even worse. It’s a vicious cycle.

This is even worse for employees because you’re supposed to keep them motivated at all times. It’s a bit tough to wrap around a brain, but the rule of thumb is; ‘Attitude bounces back.’

So, try to give out more positive vibes. Try to give off a ‘let’s go for it’ attitude, instead of one that says ‘let’s just get this over with.’ You’ll feel it coming back to you.

  • Set Deadlines.

You probably already know this, but we’ll talk about it anyway. We all have experienced that burst of speed that comes the night before the deadline for submitting an assignment. It comes like magic and promptly vanishes when you have turned in the project.

You don’t have to wait for someone else to set a deadline for you; you can do it yourself. Try to set realistic deadlines because extremely tight schedules have a way of making you lose the little zeal you have left.

  • Celebrate achievements.

It’s always a good idea to give yourself incentives. That way, you have something to look forward to when the work is done. So, you can take that break once you’ve reached the goals you had in mind.

You do have to be careful. There’s a fine line that differentiates incentive from distraction. These achievements can get you motivated, but they can also drain out all the zeal you had and leave you empty. So, if you still have work to do after the incentive, try not to go too deep into it.

Conclusion

Keeping your motivation intact at work might seem difficult, but you can be sure it becomes easier with these tips. Sellvia has even more tips to help you and your online business with productivity. You can check them out for any more help. They won’t disappoint.
