Why Has Healthcare Remote Communication Become so Popular?

Consumers accepted telehealth services at a rate that surprised healthcare practitioners; it’s among other paradigm shifts driven by the pandemic. Virtual care will continue to be used in the near future as healthcare remote communication is expected to grow. People in the field are doing their best in marketing strategies such as healthcare email marketing to make their practice widespread and convey the correct message to the right customers.

Why did healthcare remote communication become so popular in the first place?

Covid Happened

First thing first, covid happened. So, telemedicine has become a popular, safe, and essential tool to mitigate the risk of infection.

Telehealth is being used by primary care and specialty physicians to replace office visits in as many cases as possible.

According to a survey by IT vendor Sykes, more than 60% of patients think the pandemic has boosted their demand to use telehealth.

It’s Just Simply Convenient

According to a recent study, 70% of patients prefer to communicate with their health care providers through text, e-mail, or video rather than meeting them in person.

People who live in remote or isolated places can have access to health services through telehealth. It also makes services more accessible to those who have restricted mobility, time, or transportation capabilities.

Leveraging Email Marketing’s Capability

Now onto the marketing side, healthcare marketers maximize the effectiveness of email and business text messaging because they are both low-cost channels allowing a broad reach of audience.

In telehealth, they use current patient data to build up email campaigns and text message reminders regarding seasonally appropriate treatments for which telemedicine might be considered.

For example, marketers use email campaigns at the start of the flu season to promote the significance of obtaining a flu vaccination while also educating clients on when and how to receive treatment for flu-like symptoms. This makes them relevant, attracting more clients.

Honing The Power of Social Media

Like any other service line, Paid social and display raises brand recognition and educates customers on when to use telehealth alternatives.

This is what most healthcare marketing entails to increase their popularity, building a strategic media plan to ensure that their campaign does not cannibalize primary care and urgent care efforts. They use Facebook, Instagram, and display to increase their following and generate new patient traffic.

Birth of Healthcare Applications

Another factor that makes healthcare remote communication popular is the birth of hundreds of health apps. These applications allow patients to track their health and condition, receive medical information, view test results, and be reminded when it’s time for their check-up. Furthermore, healthcare applications allow healthcare personnel to rapidly review test results, medicine dosage recommendations, and other information that is critical to their work.

Producing Related Contents

According to recent research, more than three-quarters of doctors indicated they expanded their usage of digital content during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, 47% use online research to supplement the information they already obtained from a field representative.

Engagement rates in healthcare-related campaigns have risen from 1% to 5%, with COVID-19-related content and material attracting the most attention. All these efforts have led to telehealth popularity.
