Sathi Roy: Standing Out Both in Finance and Life Coaching

Women of this generation are empowered to strive to become whoever they want to be regardless of their educational attainment and ethnic background. While this social reform continues to be a challenge for many women in some cultures, Sathi Roy is setting an inspiring example by excelling in both finance and personal development.

At present, Roy is the director of refinance sales at Better.com, one of America’s fastest-growing home ownership companies. The company is best known for growing by 350% year over year and increasing its mortgage division funding for over $1 billion a month in home loans. Having been part of the company since its founding year, Roy contributed greatly in instituting and scaling the refinance team from one to over 150. Her hard work, alongside her team, successfully brought in over $60 million of revenue since she handled the position as director.

Aside from the above-mentioned achievements, she also managed to grow her division by 522% in 2019 and more than 200% this year to date. She was able to achieve these feats by empowering her team made up of 170 people spread across three dynamic cities in the United States.

For her division to be recognized as the company’s highest revenue-generating sector is a testament to how women can rise up to the challenges of any industry and work extensively to reach success. She is a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and the preservation of one’s authenticity. Belonging to a Bengali Hindu family and being raised in New York City can have many challenges, but Roy chose to use all her life experiences to become someone who can inspire women to rise up and make a difference.

Sathi Roy finished her bachelor’s degree in communications and psychology at Fordham University. She trained to be a coach at the Neuroleadership Institute so she can be in a better position to counsel people who need the encouragement to pursue their purpose in life. As a life coach, she effectively trains people in interpersonal relationships, emotional regulation, leadership, and personal brand development.

“I know what it’s like to advocate for yourself and create your own identity within environments not historically populated by people who look like you. Every other coach/leadership consultant tries to show you a fool-proof way to be ‘perfect’—how to be 100% PC and how to avoid triggers. I firmly believe in being comfortable with one’s growth journey. It is healthy to welcome alternative voices and ideas. To me, psychological safety goes two ways: one has to feel safe enough to voice a controversial thought while the other has to feel safe enough to hear it knowing it’s not coming from a bad place. I worry due to our current climate, we are losing authenticity and creativity every day because people are trying to be ‘perfect’,” Roy shares.

Roy’s rich work experience enables her to connect with people from all walks of life. She worked as a ghostwriter for the CEO of Neuroleadership for a season. She was also the executive assistant of Neil Bender, a billionaire and business mogul in the real estate industry. Interestingly, she also worked as operations manager for the luxury designer, Courtney Russell of Lion & Lamb Co.

Sathi Roy believes that there are a lot of people waiting out there waiting to hear words of encouragement. She believes that her story can inspire, and her insights can help people become the best versions of themselves.
