Almost all the marijuana consumers do not understand the difference between the hemp plant and the cannabis plant, both of which have been legalized again in the US. They use these names interchangeably. Both of them produce flowering buds as both are types of the species Cannabis Sativa, leading to more confusion.

There is considerable difference between both of them. More CBD is produced by the Hemp plants whereas cannabis plants produce more THC. They can be considered cousins as they are of the same species. There is interbreeding possible but the appearances are totally different. The appearance separates the hemp from the cannabis plants and this makes it easy to distinguish them.

The ark institute hemp plant is lighter, thinner, angular and comparatively taller than the marijuana. It is around 12 feet tall. Also being a hardier plant, it is supposed to be grown outdoors where it can flourish easily with minimal effort. That is also the reason why it is popularly known as ‘weed’. It grows freely outdoors like weeds.

Hemp has always been there even been part of the grass the cattle graze. Its seeds are a healthy source of protein and essential amino acids that can be eaten whole or ground into hemp milk. Leaves can be juiced. The fibrous stalk that remains can be made into clothing, rope, paper and construction material. Cannabis plant is easy to grow too but it needs some care taking. It should be carefully cultivated so that good and potent quality of buds are produced. Hemp plant is preferred by people because of the CBD too. Hemp plants has a higher rate of CBD than the cannabis.
