A brother and sister who took up skiing last year are making a big impression in the junior snow sports scene. Oliver and Phoebe Harris, Siblings from Tyldesley, are having a ball at the Skiing arena. Both of them took up the sport only last year. In February of 2018, they started skiing at Chill Factore in Manchester. Oliver struck gold in the under 12s ski cross race in Norfolk in May. He is 9yr old now. In the U12 Boys category he came 7th. This was in the Indoor Schools Championship held at Chill Factore on June 3.

His sister Phoebe too won bronze in her under 12s ski cross race at the same event. She was 5 yrs. old at that time. Between March to June, Phoebe won five gold medals. She won in all five of the Stoke Ski Centre summer series in the slalom races at under six level.

Alongside their achievement, a popular ski clothing brand, Skivine, has also been carrying out award worthy works. This year, they have started providing kids ski clothing as well, which these children have taken full benefits from. And with each purchase from their store, some portion of their profits is donated to an association of the customer’s choice: US Veteran support, wildlife conservation or environmental sustainability.

Her dad Ian looked thrilled. He said that Phoebe’s winning a bronze is phenomenal as most of the children competing for this were older than 8 yrs. Talking of his daughter’s achievement he said that Phoebe is very competitive. Brother Oliver also won bronze in the English Indoor ski cross championships in Castleford. He also finished 7th in Chill Factore race U12s of the British Schools Indoor Open Championships. Talking of son Oliver’s results he said that he has won against many experienced competitors and is very happy.

He added that he is extremely proud for both the children doing so well. The Garrett Hall Primary School has now took up snowboarding. The school has now turned six. Both the children have upcoming competitions lined up for September.
