Champion Squash player Jack Webber has won the annual Chilliwack Squash Championship tournament at Cheam Leisure Centre on Saturday. It was a 6 day event starting on Monday that went till Saturday. Saturday was the finals of the championship where we saw Webber competing against Atlee James. Webber won by 3-0 defending his champion title and winning it third time in a row.
The local club held this week-long tournament from March 2nd to 7th. We saw players of all levels competing together while 50 people were ‘actually’ watching the game. It was commented that there were more players than audience as a total of 45 squash players competed.
It is a 30 years old club and they have all the information on their Facebook page. Shawn Zwierzchowski of Chilliwack Squash said that in Chilliwack 500 players play squash using some of the best squash racquets and the club has 78 members playing regularly. There are 100 non members who play regularly and there are 300 who play irregularly.

Men’s D – Adam Forcier beat Dave Jelinski 3-0
Men’s E – Abner Chinchilla beat Ken Goudswaard 3-1
Women’s – Rae Bates beat Abigail Bates 3-0
Three to five games constitute one squash match where players play best of five games and single player needs to score 11 points to win a game. The games are of about five minutes each with a 90-second break. The total match time is of 30 minutes. The final score is addition of number of games won in a match.
