WalletHub has published the report and the ranking was based on multiple factors such as pet care costs, veterinarians per capita and walkability. These factors were well suited with Portland due to its dedication to dogs. In addition, pet-friendly hotels in Portland, parks per capita and dog-friendly restaurants per capita are making Portland the best place for pets.
There are 85 million households in the US that own pets. The American Pet Products Association has predicted that in 2019, pet ownership will cost US people over $75 billion. In 2018, the pet food industry reached a $91 billion value and the industry is growing with a faster rate than the packaged fresh food for humans since 2013. And the new ways of buying food for pets are arising such as buying a monthly subscription for their food.
The report comprised the pet-friendliness of the 100 largest US cities. All the cities were checked across 24 key metrics. Scottsdale, Arizona topped the list of 100 cities for pet care. Seattle, WA is one place ahead of Portland to hold the ninth position. Laredo, TX and Fresno, CA are the most ignorant cities in terms of pet care. They are holding 99th and 100th position in a total of 100 cities. Hotels and restaurants in Portland are now providing dog assistance for customers. That has increased the rank of the city among all the examined cities.
