In a recent interview, Karin Ann shared her inspiration for “for a moment,” saying, “I wrote this song after being reminded of the quote “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” because I realized I don’t like that saying, even tho what you go through makes you who you are, it doesn’t always make you stronger, sometimes it gives you trauma or issues that you have to go through and work through and that can affect your life in a really big way and I don’t like that people expect you to not be sad or mad about it, I started thinking about it and I thought “I don’t think the things I’ve been through make me stronger”, the same thing goes for “time heals” cause in reality it doesn’t, it just makes you forget about how bad the things you went through were at the time of going through them, it doesn’t make you magically healed unless you take conscious steps towards healing. That’s basically how the whole song started, writing it was kind of therapeutic for me, it’s about accepting the bad things you went through, it’s about accepting that healing takes time and that it’s ok to not feel ok and it’s ok to feel like something horrible you went through didn’t make you stronger but actually made life much more difficult, it’s about accepting all that you went through and taking conscious steps towards healing.”
