Over the past decade, people have gradually grown aware of the importance of mental health. What was once a stigma has become a norm, changing people’s approach to the subject. However, the world has not completely embraced the mental health culture change, and people create organizations to leech money off the backs of those looking for help. Ryan Kippes is an individual who is looking to bring about the change needed in the industry.
Ryan Kippes is an ordained minister who has been working in the field of service provision for people with intellectual disabilities. He has been doing so for more than a decade. Ryan’s calling to serve stemmed from his childhood. Growing up with a pair of drug-addicted parents, he vowed to help others free themselves from the shackles of addiction and other problems. Ryan’s journey would begin in 2008 when he found work as a case manager.
It was never in his plan to take up the position. The job had been handed to him, and Ryan felt empowered as a case manager, seeing the opportunity to make real, lasting change. There he connected with people who also shared his enthusiasm for serving the demographic. However, he quickly realized that the majority of the leadership in place was disconnected. Rather than change, they were driven more by their concern for profit.
Following his stint as a case manager, Ryan would work as a program manager for Abilities Inc and eventually create Adonai Inc. This HCS Medicaid waiver program served the IDD community in all areas of Texas. With Adonai, Ryan Kippes created many jobs. From caregivers to therapists, his focus was always on the most vulnerable people in the community. Ryan built his program by creating a “visibility ecosystem,” which consists of a step-by-step process that attracts, nurtures, and converts prospects into happy, independent clients.
Ryan established his entrepreneurial leadership by starting multiple businesses in his community while fighting for the voice’s rights and advocating for the IDD and mental health sector. Apart from running many companies, he has also spent many years working in Hispanic churches in many different capacities, including church planting.
As a gay man, Ryan Kippes is passionate about the LGBTQIA and faith communities. He created Servant’s Heart Behavioral Health Clinic in 2017. Servant’s Heart aims to reach out to the underserved in the community, particularly the communities of color and special needs. They stood firm in their views during the social unrest that swept the nation in 2020. Ryan and all his organizations have and will remain adamant in their support of the BLM and LGBTQIA community.
Regardless of his ventures, Ryan brings transparency and honesty with him. He is strongly vocal in his advocacy for people with mental health issues, special needs, and the LGBTQIA community. Ryan’s organizations ensure that they provide a living wage to each of their staff. With a strong desire to help others, Ryan sees himself running as a congressman for the State of Texas in a couple of years. Additionally, he foresees his businesses will be established and leading the charge of change in the mental health industry by ensuring that LGBTQIA, people of color, and women are at the forefront of the discussion and taking leadership positions to help make the most effective changes possible.
