It’s no secret that students have some of the most demanding schedules around, especially when it comes to writing essays. If you need to find time for both your studies and your extracurricular activities, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed – but it’s important to learn how to manage your time well enough so that you can write the perfect essay as a student. Here are seven tips on how to do just that

Step 1: Get organised

Organisation is one of the most important steps in essay writing. It helps you keep track of your thoughts, prevents you from getting distracted, and ensures that everything is easy to find. One of the best ways to organise your work is by breaking it down into sections. Create headers for each point you plan to make in your essay and organise these points under those headers. You should also create an introduction paragraph at the beginning of your document with an overview of what will be discussed in the body paragraphs. Another thing you can do is use headings or subheadings if you want to break up large chunks of text.

Step 2: Understand your audience

Different audiences require different writing styles, so make sure you know who your audience is when you are writing. If you are submitting your essay to an academic journal, then it is likely that your style will be very formal and concise. However, if you are writing an essay for a creative or persuasive topic, then it would be appropriate for the style of language to be more informal and conversational.

Step 3: Brainstorm

Brainstorming is one of the most crucial parts of an essay. The more ideas you have, the better. To brainstorm, think about what you want to write about and list everything that comes into your head. If you’re struggling with this step, take some time to do some research and look up topics that interest you. You can also start by writing down all of your thoughts and ideas in your journal or notebook so that they are there when you need them later on in the process.

Step 4: Identify which points are strongest

Identify which points are strongest. Once you’ve completed all of the steps, evaluate your essay and see which points you want to focus on most. You can do this by looking at your outline, if you made one, or by looking over what you’ve written in your draft. If you have time, take some time out of your day to edit and re-read what you’ve written before turning it in.

Step 5: Review draft, ask someone else to read it and do editing

Reviewing your essay is also important. You may find places where you could have used more detail or other ways of saying things. It’s a good idea to ask someone else to read your essay and make suggestions. They might spot mistakes that you missed. Once you’ve made all the changes, it’s time to publish! This brings us back to editing. Editing is one of the most crucial steps in writing an essay. If you skip over this step, your paper will not be written well at all.

Step 6. Revise and proofread

Revising and proofreading your essay can be a challenging process. Take some time, go away from your essay and come back to it with fresh eyes. Read it out loud and make sure that there are no awkward sentences or anything else that needs fixing. Ask for help from friends if you need to – they will be able to spot errors much more easily than you will because they know what you were trying to say!

If all is well, then congratulations! You have just written a perfect essay!

Step 7. Polish up final copy

Polish up final copy by reviewing and correcting any typos or mistakes in grammar. Once you have polished up your essay, save it and store it somewhere safe so that you can reference it later if necessary. Reviewing drafts of essays is also beneficial, as they can help prevent procrastination while also ensuring that there are no mistakes in your writing. If you do make a mistake, don’t worry about it! You can always go back and fix it!
