Otolaryngologist Op. Dr. Volkan Kahya says that over thick and overthin nose may prevent the best outcome of rhinoplasty.
People want a smaller, beautiful, and elegant nose and they may want a showy one as well. And the outcome is affected by the thickness of nasal tissue, the surgical techniques, and the amount of experience that the surgeon has. The size and shape may get better to a certain level. But unfortunately, surgeons cannot treat the nasal tissue. An overthin or over thick nose pose a problem to get the desired result in the operation.
HOW TO DESIGNATE THE THICKNESS OF NASAL TISSUE?
Op. Dr. Volkan Kahya says that you can determine the thickness of your nasal tissue by using these tips: “For example, if your skin is too oily and has too many black spots, probably, the thickness is high. If the pores of your skin are too visible to see, we can say that your skin is thick. If you feel an extra layer under the top of your skin when you touch the nasal tissue with your forefinger and thumb, it shows that your skin is thick. If your nasal wings are round and thick-walled, it is possible to talk about a thick skin as well. Skins like these can be slenderized with the help of some medical treatments and laser operations, to some extent. However, for thin and normal skins, to get the best outcome is more difficult than thick skins.
“The fact that people with overthin nasal tissues have regular skins that are not oily, osteochondral deformities become more evident in time and this situation may bother the patient as well.” – Op. Dr.Kahya
FOR THE BEST OUTCOME, CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR!
Op. Dr. Volkan Kahya states that before the surgical operation, the patient should consult their doctor about the thickness of nasal tissue.
“Be your nasal tissue thick or thin, the patient should consult their doctor in detail and negotiate perfectly about all of the possible outcomes. In the opposite case, the treatment may result with unintended consequences.”
