Boxing is one of the most underrated sports in the world. In Germany, one name who has emerged as a promising boxer is Piergiulio Ruhe. Weighing 69 kg, he made his professional debut on May 26, 2018. His current fight stats include 8 fights out of which he has 7 wins under his name. He won the 5 fights through K.O and is currently the Reigning German Champion in welterweight. With an aim to represent his country on an international level, Piergiulio wants to have a fight at the world championship in Las Vegas, USA.
Popularly known as Toto, the 24-year old boxer has a German and Italian Nationality. He has a secondary school certificate and has completed vocational training in construction mechanics. However, his education is completely contrasting to his current profession. Besides having his family business ‘WARU – Wertvolles Aus Aluminium’, Ruhe always wanted to make his career in sports after which he became a professional fighter and a boxer.
Blessed with high self-confidence, he has worked hard for his physique and is very passionate about boxing. “Your life has no remote control. Get up and control your life by yourself”, a life motto which the boxer strongly believes in. Talking about the important aspects to be a successful boxer, Piergiulio said, “Special characteristics like discipline, willpower, self-confidence, implementation capability and dedication are extremely important. I have imbibed these characteristics in me.” Having these all characteristics in him has made him a successful boxer in Germany today.
His love for boxing did not happen overnight. In his teenage, he played soccer at SC RIntelm and tennis. While he was 16, his friend Mikael Mkrtchyan from Spain made him passionate about boxing. Even Mikael is a professional fighter since 2013. After 6 years of hardcore training, Piergiulio trained rigorously for his first amateur fight. He later got ready for a professional fight and his career started in 2018. ‘Glaube an deinen Traum’ meaning ‘Believe in your dream’ was the song played when he walked int the arena. Sticking to his roots, he always shows immense respect towards his hometown in Niedersachsen.
Moreover, the young guy who is self-motivated is motivating other people as well in fighting. He is helping children with a bad past, people who have been bullied to join the sport. While working out, Piergiulio has got a strict rule – No Brawls, no offences. He believes that people with similar interests of box sports can bring a positive impact in life. As far as his future is concerned, he has an Intercontinental title fight against the WBC Youth Champion Maono Ally from Tanzania. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the date is postponed to September or October. Piergiulio Ruhe is currently prepping for it as the winner of the match will head to the Junior World Championship.
