Every successful entrepreneur starts somewhere. We asked one of our favorite women entrepreneurs, Majida Housni, to explain how she started in business.
Majida Housni is a woman of many hats: Serial entrepreneur, fashion designer, women advocate and social media personality. She explained, “With years of traveling around the globe and working with A-list businessmen and celebrities, I was able to create my own brand Maison Maj Group.”
Maison Maj Group
The Maison Maj Group consists of few companies. Maison Maj, a company that offers luxury concierge services in the heart of Beverly Hills. And Maison Maj Club (MMC), a private membership club for like-minded people who not only share a passion for the better things in life but also look to gain more from their experiences.
Both companies believe in the importance of being a part of a well-connected community and that is much more than simply socializing. The MMC community includes people from all over the world who are from different professions, backgrounds, and ethnicities. The club’s members share one commonality, and that’s the pursuit of excellence. Being part of the community provides the opportunity to attend social events where members can converse, build synergies, and share world views while experiencing everything life has to offer.
Maj says she enjoyed being able to share her expertise through the Maison Maj Group. In her mind, the dream of being your own boss grows for (sometimes) years before it becomes a reality for a lot of people but Majida was lucky to open her first business when she was 18-years-old and since then decided to pursue entrepreneurship, so she spent several years founding different businesses to help find her real passion.
Since she started, her business has evolved significantly, and she’s grateful for everything she’s endured and learned through the years. Maj places luxury at the center of her expression while exploring creative sectors such as design and fashion. Her international travels in life are the components in which she gives credit for influencing her life’s course.
Royal Legacy
It’s evident that eyes are not only on the Middle East politically but also fashionably as well. Those who follow the fashion world have noticed the buzz that Arab fashion designers create during international fashion weeks. They have become beautiful targets for street and fashion photographers because their style sense is genuinely unique.
Arab fashion designers know who to dress and how to style and showcase luxury at its best. The truth is they have more of a luxurious and sophisticated sense of style compared to others who prefer a simpler, more practical outfit.
Majida Housni had a burning desire to bring beautiful Arabian fashion to the Western world. From this desire, Royal Legacy was born. Royal Legacy is an international fashion house that debuted in May 2017 on no other than the world-famous Rodeo Drive in gorgeous Beverly Hills. Their first collection included unique concepts in the genre that included both couture and ready to wear fashion. This made it the perfect go-to place for Hollywood A-listers.
She explained, “The Arab style is one which has existed for hundreds of years. It represents the earlier ideologies even before religions were developed, and keen on making everyone, including celebrities, to crave for our mysterious, stylish Arabian style.”
Majida’s business has garnered a great deal of success for her. She went from owning beauty centers in Dubai to being the first North African/Arab to open her own shop in Beverly Hills. And operated stores on both Rodeo Drive and Camden Drive in the golden triangle of Beverly Hills. However, she’s since left the fashion industry to pursue her dreams with Maison Maj in the luxury concierge business.
This has significantly helped her scale her business, and now she even helps other women find their calling through her social media accounts.
“My path to self-employment seemed like a natural evolution to me.” She suggested that others “Don’t give up, don’t take anything personally, and don’t take NO for an answer!”
