With the lessons they bring and the strength they promise, trials by fire have become the bedrock of success and greatness. These strings of ordeals have a way of bringing out our indomitable character and showing us that we can rise above any adversity that we encounter. True enough, it was through arduous experiences and uphill battles that Brandi Benson was able to discover how resilient and tenacious she really is.
Being the only veteran to be honored with the Courage Award from the Sarcoma Foundation of America, Brandi Benson proves herself worthy of everyone’s praise and admiration. As a cancer survivor, she has shown that her fortitude and courage allowed her to fight, not only for her country, but for her life as well. Indeed, her journey is a testament to how powerful being dauntless in the face of difficulties can be.
Hailing from Novato, California, Brandi L. Benson has gained recognition for her works and accomplishments as a war veteran, motivational speaker, esteemed author and cancer advocate. She initially joined the military in hopes of playing soccer for her country. However, just as she got out of basic training and after only three months of being stationed in Iraq, she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Ewing Sarcoma.
Walking away with one less muscle in her left leg, Brandi Benson gathered all her strength and triumphantly beat the odds. Because of her rewarding yet tough experience, she has written magazine blogs for Conquer Magazine, Cancer Wellness Magazine, American Cancer Society and many more to share her story with the world.
On top of that, Brandi Benson is also a spokesperson for Bristol Myers Squibb alongside Sterling K. Brown, a well-renowned actor who stars in ABC’s “This Is Us.” She has even signed a modeling contract with HOP Models & Talent Agency.
As someone who has dealt with feelings of hopelessness due to outdated treatment methods, Brandi Benson knows what it is like to go through spirals of negative thinking, self-blame and denial. She managed her way out of everything by journaling her experience so that her then two-year-old nephew will have memories to hold on to. As a matter of fact, she has authored the book, “The Enemy Inside Me,” which is derived from her journal and is now available on Amazon.
After everything that she has been through, Brandi Benson wants everyone to know that no challenge or problem is insurmountable. Her triumphs and victories over the many battles that she fought are proof that inner strength can be used as a weapon for overcoming hurdles and conquering obstacles. With her story, she hopes to inspire individuals who are stuck in seemingly impossible situations.
Years from now, Brandi Benson hopes to become a brand ambassador for The American Cancer Society and Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) to pave the way for anyone who feels like they are being held back by their disabilities. For being a beacon of strength and resilience, she sparks hope for those who are on the verge of giving up.
