Ben Wiegman, a 17 year old senior at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, Illinois, has created some draft buzz this summer as a 2020 right handed pitching prospect. Standing at 6”3 215 lbs, he is a threat to hitters with his lively fastball that sits in the low 90’s and has reached the mid 90’s this summer.
Wiegman committed to the University of Louisville as a 14 year old with his brother Andrew, who is a year older and is currently playing baseball at Louisville. According to Wiegman, his mental approach to the game has helped separate himself from others. “Having the ability to make adjustments on the mound has been huge for staying consistent as a pitcher. Trusting myself to attack hitters on the mound and keep them guessing in the box has helped me tremendously this year” Wiegman said.
After a busy summer, Ben will finish off his travel ball career playing with the Reds Midwest Scout Team. Which is a fall travel team consisting of some of high school baseball’s top prospects throughout the midwest.
