Anyone can reap the benefits of regular exercise, so let us look at fundamental principles that have improved Derik’s ability as an Entrepreneur and fitness enthusiast / bodybuilder.
We asked Derik: With all the companies you own, run, and invest in, why do you prioritize fitness and bodybuilding into your daily routine?
Fays answer:
There are so many parallels in fitness/athletics/bodybuilding and sports to your every day life and success in business or anything you desire. It is an internal challenge EVERY day. You have to resist the urge to skip. You have to deny the internal voice telling you you are tired. You need to discipline yourself from eating the easy fast food. You need to challenge your body and mind each day to push harder than the day before.
I do not go to the gym to get up on stage and compete. I go because I believe the you should force yourself to do something EVERY day that you don’t want to do. The act of reminding your mind that YOU are in charge, and not your mind is important . Your brain WILL let you down, it will look for the easy way out. I am going to the gym everyday to build up mental strength so that when times get tough, and they will, and my mind tells me to stop, that I am tired, that I will have the strength to keep going. Keep going for my family, keep going for my employees, keep going for my company, keep going for those in need, and to keep going for me!
