A Better Chance for Youth Inc. believes that youth empowerment begins with giving them access to quality education. With that strong core belief, the youth organization has taken to heart the call to prepare tomorrow’s leaders and influencers through education programs and scholarships.
ABC Youth is a non-profit organization that focuses on educating and inspiring the youth with a strong emphasis on minorities. The community organization places a premium on making an effort to strengthen the community by strengthening the youth. They do this mainly by providing services for the youth, including education consulting, test preparation consulting, community connections, and motivational speaking.
A Better Chance for Youth Inc. puts a lot of their attention and efforts into empowering minority scholars who have closed their doors to the idea of college. Many minority youths today believe that they are not able to get into college. The most common roadblocks include financial constraints or the belief that they are unable to qualify academically. ABC Youth Inc. helps break down those barriers and wrong mindsets by getting the community involved through raising funds for educational support and scholarships. All this, the organization does in the hopes that it can help affect positive change in the next generation’s lives and their surrounding communities.
Education advocate Monique S. Robinson heads the efforts of A Better Chance for Youth Inc. An empowering education professional, she received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Wilberforce University and a Masters of Education from Concordia University-Portland. Monique also holds accreditation in educational leadership certification and special education from Northcentral University.
As the founder of ABC Youth Inc., Monique’s greatest goal is to promote higher education to today’s minority youth. She advocates for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and hopes to encourage more black and other minority students to shoot for admission in these institutions. In 2009, Monique received the award for Teacher of the Year from Imagine Schools for her contributions to education.
At the heart of A Better Chance for Youth Inc. is the drive to promote education to change the community. Through better education, the youth get more chances at better employment, a more comfortable means of living, and a better future. Studies show that bachelor’s degree holders earn about $32,000 more annually than those who only have a high school diploma.
ABC Youth actively takes donations from local businesses to use for educational opportunities for scholars and educators. Programs by A Better Chance for Youth Inc. includes creating tests, tutorials, and other resources to prepare them for assessments, challenging classes, and life situations. The organization’s board members and volunteers also make themselves available for speaking invitations in schools, youth centers, and other organizations. All these, they implement to increase their influence and build sustainable income streams for their advocacy.
ABC Youth Inc. is on a mission to allow the youth to become tomorrow’s leaders by training them today. The organization believes that access to education is the best chance they have to a better future. Today, they do everything they can to make that access possible for as many as they can.
