Anyone who is serious about getting to the next level in anything would be hard-pressed to not see the huge value of proper networking skills. Networking is what makes opening the door for most people possible and is inarguably the way to go when looking for that one opportunity that can take anyone and give them the very real capability of possibly even drastically changing the lives of everyone involved for the better. The story behind how Travis Hearn become chaplain of several large sports teams proves this statement as well as you can get it.
Travis Hearn is a decorated pastor, the founder of Scottsdale, Arizona’s Impact Church, and seasoned chaplain of several established sports teams. Travis began his journey in religion in his teenage years, shortly after he happened to have been an extremely talented sports star in his region. Having lived only for quick pleasures and gratifications, it was not long before Travis realized he was on the wrong path and gave his life to God and the church completely, relinquishing his bright future in playing sports.
Taking his newfound role in the church very seriously, Travis quickly became knowledgeable about his religion, building an extensive sense of trust and respect with his own community. “I started getting invited to speak at places, school assemblies, church, youth groups, different things, just to share my story. After that, I end up in the ministry working with teenagers and youth pasturing youth groups and stuff like that. In 2002, I was invited to be the team chaplain for the Kansas City Royals baseball team.” explains Travis.
Building the respect that he earned through his unique testimony and admirable character, Travis began being invited to lead prayer for many of the local sports teams in Arizona, even landing among teams of the caliber of the Arizona Cardinals.
Having such a unique religious upbringing and background, Travis Hearn was able to earn his way to being the trusted and loyal religious figure he has grown to be today. Travis knew that connecting with others and giving his entire life to his cause would do wonders in carrying him to the next level in his community. Travis describes it as “Life is all about networking. Being in the right place at the right time.”
