Dr. Jaivir Singh Rathore, MD, FAES, “DocJ” is known for introducing groundbreaking advancements in neurology, particularly in epilepsy research and patient care. His struggle from a quaint village in Rajasthan, India, to becoming the highest-rated neurologist in the United States highlights his medical expertise.
Dr. Rathore was born on June 9, 1977, in Nangwara Kallan, a small village near Makrana. Rajasthan is known for its famous white marble used in the Taj Mahal. As a child of an Indian Navy officer, Dr. Rathore spent his student life in various cities, including Pune and Mumbai, attending Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in Vishakhapatnam, Lonavala, Karanja (Mumbai), and Jodhpur. He considers Jodhpur his hometown, a descendant of His Highness Rao Dudhoji Rathore, a prince of Jodhpur and ruler of Merta City in Rajasthan.
Dr. Rathore’s academic qualification began with his enrollment in NHL Medical College, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, after being selected in the All-India CBSE Pre-Medical Test. His passion for neurology led him to the United States, where he pursued advanced training at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed his education with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and two post-doctoral fellowships, specializing in neurosurgical epileptology, clinical neurophysiology, and neuroscience.
His training at renowned institutions such as Johns Hopkins and the Cleveland Clinic polished his skills and expanded his expertise. In 2022, he took over as the President and CEO of Falcon Medical Group Inc. established in 2007 and launched the DocJ’s Advanced Neurology, the first private epilepsy center in Florida. Headquartered in Orlando, with additional offices in The Villages, Florida with local, regional, national and global clientele; and serving as the Co-Chairman of the Epilepsy Foundation of America’s Florida Chapter, DocJ has become a hope for epilepsy patients worldwide.
Dr. Rathore was the lead author of a depression screening tool for epilepsy, published by Harvard University and funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH). This tool, now the most commonly used globally, has redefined how depression is diagnosed and managed in epilepsy patients. His work has been extensively cited in scientific literature and endorsed by medical bodies like the American Academy of Neurology.
Based on patient reviews per US News & World Report, Healthgrades and WebMD, he is the highest-rated neurologist in the United States. He holds board certifications in Neurology and Epilepsy from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and Clinical Neurophysiology from the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology (ABCN), which per data from the American board of medical specialties, puts him among the top 3.56% of most board certified physicians in the US.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rathore has served as Chief Epilepsy Fellow, Adjunct Faculty, and Vice Chairman of the Johns Hopkins Fellows Council. He also sits on the review panels of prestigious journals, including the official journals of the American Academy of Neurology, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Indian Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Rathore is the founding President of the Doctors of Rajasthan International (DoRI) Foundation, one of the largest global diaspora physician groups. Under his leadership, DoRI has launched several charitable initiatives, including the Wonderx app, which provided free medical consultations to people in Rajasthan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The “Adopt-a-Village” initiative in Rajasthan, another Dr. Rathore’s brainchild, encourages overseas Rajasthan residents to sponsor health screenings in their native villages. This program, initiated by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), has screened nearly 8000 people across 75 villages in nine states of India as of July 2024; to commemorate India’s 75th year of independence.
Dr. Rathore was awarded the RANA Canada’s President’s Award in 2023 on behalf of the DoRI Foundation for its impact on medical education and healthcare in Rajasthan.
