Timothy Ng is a one-of-kind, pure artist. From designing garments to producing, he simply is the “renaissance man” in the art spectrum. At a very young age, Timothy showed signs of being ingenious with his art craftsmanship. He can do it all, but producing is what makes him distinctive. While the artists who Timothy Ng chooses to play to their usual strengths of funneling sounds of the day through their own lens, it’s Timothy’s production that frankly flares.
Speaking on his introduction to the music industry, Timothy shared, “I’ve always had an eye on music. I played piano as a kid and violin in middle school. Music always gave me that visceral feeling. Whether it’s the dramatic classical melody or the drums from a trap beat, I’ve always noticed the smallest details and I think that’s what makes me a consummate artist—attention to detail. What made me really want to produce, write, and mix songs was in 2020, when the global pandemic hit and the whole world just froze. Life just got boring. I had just graduated high school, everyone was in quarantine. I just needed something to do.”
He added, “I grabbed my old computer and opened up Logic, I was pressing random keys, not knowing what I was doing but I knew the approach I would take would be different, but it picked up quick. Also going to multiple studios and meeting such influential people in Las Vegas and New York City helped me understand how important a producer is in order to make a hit. The process was long but here we are now, being in the studio with the brothers, and releasing a single.”
In recent times, amid the global pandemic, entertainment as we know it is in a transitional stage. Generation Z has attached themselves to social media, especially when it comes to subjects such as music and film. Musicians and producers are doing their own research and trying new things by themselves—Timothy Ng being one of them. We are seeing many young artists explode off of viral videos and snippets thanks to the digital age.
“I continue to stay inspired and creative by just doing all forms of art to be honest. Since I’m in college studying fashion design, I am always keeping myself busy. Painting, sculpting, producing, designing, I try and do it all,” Timothy shares in regards to staying inspired. “Especially being in New York City, there’s always ingenuity and the people that surround me are always inspiring and motivating me.”
Most recently, Timothy Ng shared his debut single “Walk In The Booth Freestyle” which features his close friends and lyricists Djxck! and B1GDVE. The single is available everywhere across streaming platforms for listeners to tune into. Concluding our conversation, Timothy shared, “In the next several years, I see myself becoming the renaissance man of art. Top-tier.”
