It’s no secret that simply living in some of the most popular cities in the US has become nearly impossible. So if you are a creative professional considering moving out to Latin America after the novel coronavirus pandemic, one of these cities could be a good fit for you.

We recently compiled a list of the best world creative cities to live in after the coronavirus pandemic using different life quality measures and other factors that may influence someone’s decision about where to move. The factors we used are the ability to work from home, population density, housing affordability, number of coffee shops in the city, concentration of creative jobs, business incubators and accelerators, a climate that is supportive of creative minds and share of residents age 25 and over who have at least a bachelor’s degree.

After collecting our data from different sources, each measure was rescaled to a uniform z-score so that we could add these values and get an overall index for each area.

Read on to find out the 5 best cities in the Latin American region to move to after the coronavirus:

  1. Medellin, Colombia

Over the last two decades the Colombian city of Medellin has experienced such a great transformation that it is practically unrecognizable for those who haven’t visited the city since the early 90es of the 20th century. The city is a world leader in innovation and creativity, and practically, it is the city in the world that has experienced the greatest improvement of its urban environment and living conditions over the last years.

  1. Santa Rita do Sapucai, Brazil

This tiny brazilian town near São Paulo is beloved for its specialty coffee scene and is host to some of Latin America’s best creative festivals, including HackTown, a festival that’s compared to Austin’s South by Southwest. The city was nicknamed “the Brazilian Silicon Valley” in the 1990s for its status as “among the top areas for venture capital investment in the region.”

  1. Montevideo, Uruguay

Uruguay is considered the most progressive country throughout Latin America. In recent years, the quality of life is often compared even with countries such as Canada. Montevideo is a city with a very intense social life, numerous entertainment options and excellent restaurants.

  1. Santiago, Chile

The capital of Chile is large, modern, liberal, offers excellent opportunities for personal and professional development, but it is also a great place to have fun. What distinguishes Santiago from most cities in the world is the fact that the city is one of top 5 best places in the world to start your own business, which in turn is the best foundation for a good quality of life.

  1. Curitiba, Brazil

Curitiba ranks among the best in the world and is often compared to some of the most modern cities on the planet such as Frankfurt, Vienna and Amsterdam. Known for its well-developed urban environment, it is one the 10 cities in the world that offer the best example of sustainable development.
