The NY-based artist, Kenny Alvarez, is gaining popularity very quickly in the hiphop scene. Popularly known as I.K.P, Kenny has released four albums that are full length. All the albums are about personal life struggles and that makes them absolutely relatable with the audience.
The artist has been constantly releasing singles for a while now. The latest return for the artist is marked by “Radicalize”. I.K.P stands for Infamous King of Positivity. That is something which is common in Alvarez’s work. Most of the work is deeply centered around struggle and positivity.
In the opening track, BRAND NEW // GÜEY, the artist has braced the audience with a very interesting tonality that totally marks a success for the track. The song comes out as a mantra for standing tall against all odds in one’s life. LITE WERK // DAHSSIT and BLACK + BLUE also have huge potential to inspire people in struggles. The battle of drug addiction comes out beautifully in EYEZ HEAVY.
The greatness of the artist’s works came from the fact that the artist is able to explore the inside and outside of the addiction beautifully. While most of the people go in for physical manifestations of addiction and how it affects the body, here the artist has also delved in the mind-space and internal conflicts.
All the five tracks of the EP are on point and different from each other in many ways. However, this difference in each track is finely knit together to make the EP one single piece of art.
