There’s no stopping 5G or 5th generation mobile network as technology progresses further to enable faster and smoother connectivity. The world has experienced the need for social distancing so it’s not surprising that we turned and will continue to turn to technology in order to connect with family, friends, and co-workers. 5G is already deployed in various countries but certain locations may still need to be checked for availability.
Local Telco Coverage
Interested in shifting? Like mentioned before, only certain locations may have access to 5G so try to check your country’s telcos in terms of coverage.
Sim Card
You would need to see if the current sim card you have is already 5G-ready. It can depend on your Telco’s services on how to check (whether via SMS, online account, or manual checking via service centers).
Devices
You need to have a 5G-ready mobile device in order to enjoy the network. There are now various phone models being rolled out with this capacity so ensure to get that type of phone model if you’re upgrading soon. For Apple, the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max models work with 5G (check best iphone accessories here). This futureproofing allows you to enjoy upcoming upgrades or development without the need to shell out money again in order for you to adapt.
You can also get a 5G pocket wifi to hotspot and then wirelessly connect your current mobile phones, laptops, smart TVs, gaming consoles, etc. to it in order to enjoy the faster network.
Security
5G is also said to be more secure than previous network generations but it still comes with the possibility of older-style threats like SQL injection attacks, unencrypted data traveling along private networks that may or may not have malware-sniffing apps looking at the data, and other yet-to-be-identified security challenges.
