Character and ambitions can be molded from as early as childhood. For entrepreneur Steven Jordan, the chores he did in his youth imprint embedded a sense of entrepreneurship in his heart.
Growing up, Steven would provide a variety of services that ranged from mowing lawns to pressure washing. His first business after attending Florida State University was in an insurance firm, where he would focus on using life insurance as a long-term investment and banking strategy. Working there, Steven found an excellent learning experience. He and his business partner would eventually part ways.
Steven wanted enough time to study, but bills still needed to be paid. He was focused on learning from the mistakes committed in the insurance business. He wanted to turn his weaknesses into a strength, and among his weaknesses was Marketing & Advertising.
Starting his own business again was on his mind. However, he wasn’t sure just what his business would be. Steven was in the research phase, scouting for his next business venture.
He would later be contacted by a high school friend who told him this family was working in the cabinet industry, where they focus on cabinet refinishing. Although Steven wasn’t quite sure what that was, his curiosity prompted him to give it a shot.
Steven wound up working with them for a year and contributing to the improvements that would eventually lead to his awareness that the very opportunity he was looking for was in Cabinet Refinishing. The business focused on the process of changing or restoring existing cabinetry. The small business he was working for, Espresso Finishes, was generating hundreds of thousands of dollars per year for painting cabinets.
When he started working for them, it would take over a week to complete one job. A year later, Espresso was completing two to three kitchens per week. Although he wanted to improve the business, it wasn’t his. He decided that he would start his operation and decided to part ways. However, he committed to never compete with them out of respect.
Steven moved to the city of Orlando and created Elite Cabinet Coatings, LLC. It took years of hard work and consistency to grow his company to earn seven figures. They would be completing works on five kitchens every week with entire weeks booked out for two months in advance. Steven would re-approach Espresso Finishes in Tampa and discuss with them the opportunities that exist. He would acquire 100% equity, allowing him to service Tampa and the rest of Central Florida.
In their third year of business, Steven was aware of the opportunity in Cabinet Refinishing. He wanted to expand his business model and create a way to help other people transform their lives from painting cabinets. From there, he created Cabinet Startup, LLC.
The company has received dozens of people who come to their training center in Orlando to learn every aspect of the Cabinet Refinishing business. There, they are guided step by step to get everything set up and partner with them to generate profits quickly.
