Fashion blogger turned singer-songwriter, New York resident Marilyn Hucek has worked in the NYC corporate fashion industry for 5 years before she decided to become a singer. Marilyn hails from Washington D.C. and has been inspired by the Covid situation world over and at home to bring a special song through her debut album ‘Memories’
The song is in honor of her father who has been suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease since long and had recently contracted the deadly Covid-19 virus.
Memories song accompanied with a music video released on YouTube in July. The lyrics are written by Marilyn herself. Currently she is working on another song that will again reflect her life’s personal experiences and observations. The voice of the singer and its texture got compared to artists like Taylor Swift, and Ellie Goulding by the listeners.
Marilyn says that she has been singing, writing lyrics and making music her whole life but these times we are living in and facing the deadly virus and with her father’s health deteriorating compelled her to write and produce the song and work on her dreams of becoming a singer. She has seen her father fighting Alzheimer since she was 16 and now came covid 19.
Her time with her father at the hospital made her go through various emotions, troubles and prayers. She was understandably scared and had seen the worst coming but the miracle brought her father to life. She thought she was going to lose him but he recovered and that gave birth to her first song.
It is a song for everyone who is facing any kind of adversity and especially a certain disease. Her dad has degrees in meteorology and physics, and worked for NASA, thus there is a theme of space and astronomy throughout the song. The last portion of the song leaves behind a happy note which serves as a reminder to everyone to be optimistic even in the most trying times.
