According to one 2023 study, 79 percent of respondents say dating apps have given them “emotional fatigue or burnout.” So, if you’re sick of dating apps, you’re not alone.
What if there was a new way of connecting with people — not just for dating but also for friendship or professional purposes? What if this new method didn’t require you to swipe until you were exhausted but rather allowed you to simply go about your normal day?
A new social networking platform called Crossed does exactly that. Due to its unique, groundbreaking approach, it promises to replace traditional dating apps.
“We built Crossed because we were annoyed with dating apps ourselves,” says Manny Manzel, co-founder and CEO of Crossed. “We decided to leverage our background in technology to fix this problem, which is how Crossed was born.”
How Crossed works
Crossed is based on next-generation geolocation technology. The app basically takes notes as you go about your life, visiting places and doing your favorite things. When two members of the Crossed community are found to patronize the same locations, the app raises the possibility of a connection and lets users decide whether or not they want to accept the new acquaintance. There’s also a Safe Mode that enables people to decide whether they want a possible connection to be able to view their profile.
“Let’s say you love to go to the farmers’ market on the weekends,” Manzel says. “Crossed will tell you if other members of the community pop up in the vicinity. If you start messaging each other, you might find you get along. You might even decide to go to the farmers’ market together next time.”
One of Crossed’s main benefits is that people are introduced to others in their own communities, so you don’t need to worry about getting excited about someone who turns out to be on the other side of the state. Many people use Crossed to date and find a romantic interest, but that’s not the only way to use the platform.
Finding friends, business contacts, or dates on Crossed
Crossed is three separate platforms in one. Only one of the platforms is dedicated to dating, while the other two are for friendship and professional networking. Members of the Crossed community can participate in just one of the modes, two of them, or all three.
“People have different motivations for wanting to meet others,” Manzel says. “They aren’t always interested in dating. Other dating apps make it difficult to meet others just for friendship or business. Since they are designed primarily for dating, it’s easy for people to misunderstand each other’s intentions. That’s why we wanted to give members a way to signal their motivations up front.”
In addition, users can decide how many profiles to make so they can have separate profiles for each mode, allowing them to choose which sides of themselves they reveal to different kinds of users. For instance, their dating profile can feature more casual photos while their business one stays more formal.
“All three modes are kept strictly separate,” Manzel says. “If you are only interested in professional networking, for instance, then your profile will never appear on the dating or friendship modes.”
Crossed keeps people safe
Crossed protects users’ information with the strictest security and privacy protocols.
“Safety is our top priority,” Manzel explains, “which is why we use the same software that major banks rely on to validate users, called Plaid. We also encrypt all communications on the platform because we know how important it is to defend members’ privacy, so we went with the most rigorous solutions available in each case.”
Crossed also encourages people to verify their identities. This cuts down on catfishing, the phenomenon in which users construct a fake identity to attract and fool others. “Just look for the flag that shows the profile has been verified, and you can be sure you’re actually talking to that person,” Manzel says.
Connect with people naturally through Crossed
Meeting people online doesn’t have to be a bore anymore. Crossed makes it possible to connect with people who naturally go to the same places and enjoy the same activities as yourself.
With this next-generation app, there’s no longer any need to feel lonely. Whether you use it to find dates, make friends, or connect with colleagues, Crossed will help you build a vibrant social life.
