Scott Aharoni is an American film director and producer behind the award-winning short film Bardo. He began his career working on commercials and music videos before making his short film debut with Bardo in 2016. The film went on to be screened at numerous festivals worldwide and won numerous awards, including Independent Spirit Award at the Sedona International Film Festival, Grand Jury Prize at the Snowtown Film Festival, and the Audience Choice Award at the Downtown Urban Arts International Film Festival.
Bardo—An Awarding Short Film
Aharoni loved movies and quickly realized he shared a passion for telling stories through films. After graduation, Aharoni began to make a name for himself, and his work began to garner attention from major brands. In 2016, he released his first short film, Bardo. The film was a success that helped put them on the map as a director to watch.
Bardo, the film by Aharoni, signed a three-year distribution deal with Shorts TV. In addition, his second short director, The Untimely Gift, was a finalist at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Bermuda International Film Festival. These are both Academy Award-qualifying film festivals.

Directed by Scott Aharoni, Leylak revolves around the story of a New Yorker suffering from a devastating truth during the peak pandemic times. The live-action short film is premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and will world premiere on June 12, 2021.

Aharoni is a New York-based producer and director. Aharoni worked as the executive producer of the 2020 live-action short film The Criminals. The movie, written and directed by Turkish Kurdish filmmaker Serhat Karaaslan, revolves around a young couple yearning for seclusion in a tiny Turkish village. The film employs genre to highlight how a repressive society forces its citizens to police one other, ultimately turning sex into a rebellious act. It has been shortlisted in the live-action short category for the 2022 awards.
Aharoni worked closely with the team to land the film on the shortlist for the Academy Awards.
