This day and age can be challenging for students. Certain institutions promote a healthy, balanced lifestyle for its students, but higher education comes with its ups and downs. By now, students are gearing up for winter midterms, which can bring about a heightened level of stress due to rigorous expectations for studying. It’s important for students to know when to take a break for themselves. This is especially true in the social media era, where our feeds are often curated to exasperate our stress, not help it.
Joseph Levy Cohen who is publicly known as Dark Joseph Ravine is dedicated to combating this social phenomenon by promoting positivity on his massive platform. He has learned that light greatly overpowers darkness, granting him the opportunity to inspire others across the world. He hopes that over time, he can create a worldwide base that is completely unstoppable, purely based on the notion that kindness can overcome all.
“It’s at a point where kindness isn’t even cliche anymore,” says Ravine. “It’s not even redundant. People have shifted their focus away from their communities and become too individualistic. It’s one thing to have a firm sense of identity, but you must consider those around you while you uphold that identity.”
He believes that the lack of community is part of why people are experiencing burnout at these exponential rates. There’s a larger number of young people now who feel lost or isolated than ever before. The pandemic has caused a great rift in people’s daily lives, even today. The lingering effects have triggered burnout in waves throughout the entire world. That’s not to say the issue can’t be beat, though.
We can still work together to remedy the situation, according to optimistic Ravine.
“Instead of supporting hustle culture, learn to take breaks. Learn to find solace in the presence of people you care about. Find a balance. You can achieve all the things you want to, but you should learn what works for you, not against you,” he says.
He practices what he preaches, too. Ravine currently operates several businesses and social media presences, largely self-motivated. Still, he knows when he needs to have other people step in to help him. That can be difficult to achieve in a world that encourages self-starters.
“Everyone’s expected to have, like, two main jobs and five side hustles these days. It’s just not sustainable,” he says. “We’re so engaged with media that we may as well use it to help find balance in life.”
In May 2022, Dark Joseph Ravine spoke on the podcast, Social Mission Revolution. Here, he discussed all the things that make his brand so unique, including his dedication to helping others live authentic, stress-free lives. Instead of following trends, he creates new ones, ultimately guiding people to follow their own lead.
His mantra, Kindness for Success, is especially pivotal for college students, who are navigating what is, sometimes, a very lonely road.
Kindness can make a huge difference in a person’s life. Start by being kind to yourself and extend that kindness to others. Find inspiration to power through this semester and beyond by hearing Ravine’s ground-breaking social media strategy.
