Influencer Kareem Chenheu, better known as 3amAlexander and Natalie Faron, also known at NatFar, took it upon themselves to visit Brgr Stop, located in Ft. Lauderdale, to see what all the hype was about. Maybe it’s the fact that we’re approaching month six of a global pandemic or the decreasing motivation to create chef-worthy dishes at home, but I have been CRAVING a good burger for weeks now. Midwest girl at heart, my favorite comfort foods usually involve perfectly cooked meats and barbeque. This example is no different. After dodging several curveballs that life has thrown at me the past month, my craving for an A+ burger and crispy fries needed to be satisfied asap…you know…for my mental health.
After seeing this particular restaurant featured on several food blogs and highly rated reviews, we decided Brgr Stop should be our first attempt at finding the best burger in Ft. Lauderdale. The outside is nothing special, but the inside is exactly the vibe we were looking for. Walls and ceiling covered in street signs and colorful graffiti, the retro feel took us out of the current stresses in our lives and we found a comfortable booth in the corner where we could enjoy the full view.
Brgr Stop followed all COVID precautions, taking our temperature at the door and spreading tables apart. We felt very comfortable in the space. But back to the important stuff…THE FOOD. When Kareem and I eat at restaurants together, we don’t usually mess around. We like to order our food either the first or second time the server comes around. Very average service (it looked like the waitress was managing the whole restaurant so props to her) and we put in our burger order as soon as the water cups hit the table.
Kareem ordered the Vampire Slayer, which consisted of bacon, garlic aioli, sun cheese, and tomato jam on a garlic buttered brioche bun…YUM! I ordered the Bourbon Cowboy which was similar but included onion rings and barbeque sauce (told you) and not one but TWO 8 oz patties. It seemed like my excitement and salivating mouth distracted me from reading the burger’s full description because I didn’t realize it was a double burger until it was sitting in front of me. And I didn’t hate the surprise.
The burgers were incredible. Each flavor was equally impressive and the juices that came out from my burger were perfection. Each bite made my mouth so happy. Overall, I give the burger a 9.2 out of 10. With bacon burgers, I notice that the bacon itself is usually below average. It’s thin, fatty, and just not cooked well. And I understand, that’s not the showstopper, the burger needs to be on point. But I was pleasantly surprised with my Bourbon Cowboy. The bacon could stand alone as being quality, thick, crispy bacon. I appreciate the craft. And let’s not forget about the bun. The bun is so important, it can ruin a perfectly good beef patty. My bun was decent, it was a seeded challah bun, which I don’t think was sturdy enough for my 16oz of beef. That would probably be my only suggestion. I think it needs more of a brioche type bun to support the weight of the burger.
But nonetheless, all the flavors were there and the food was EXACTLY what we needed. I ate the other half of my burger at 9 am the next morning…no shame. We would definitely recommend Brgr Stop to anyone in the area looking for a good, casual, fast, tasty burger joint. I hope they are able to survive throughout this pandemic because we will be back.
