YouTube is by far, one of the tops most visited websites on the internet. From videos on how to make ramen noodles to tutorials on how to build a guitar, the platform has gained youtube views tremendously over the last decade. 

While YouTube is indeed a valuable site, it’s also one of the most insecure websites you can visit. Therefore, it’s important to learn how to be a smart user and how to take advantage of its features. If you start too aggressively with your YouTube marketing strategy, your channel could be at risk.

Everyone is using YouTube nowadays. It has become a leading platform for people around the world to showcase their life, their thoughts, and of course- their content. Since it has been around for a few years now, many people want to make videos but are not sure how to go about doing so. It can be extremely difficult to be successful with YouTube and have massive youtube subscribers. if you don’t know how to use these 6 mistakes that every YouTuber should avoid- or at least learn from!

This article is geared toward providing you with the best practices when using YouTube as an online business owner. The article will cover 6 of the more common mistakes that business owners make when engaging in video marketing on YouTube.

1. Using your video as a means of payment: 

Have you heard of YouTube’s new revenue-sharing program? It’s commonly known as the YouTube Partner Program, or simply the YouTube Red program. What this is, is that the owner of the video is paid based on gaining youtube views or likes a video gets. This can be quite lucrative for YouTube’s partners; however, most people don’t think things through well enough before jumping on this bandwagon.

We know it sounds good at first, but using your channel as a form of payment is not so good. We are not saying that you shouldn’t use your videos to make money; however, there are some better practices to take instead.

2. Not adding a description to your video: 

The description is the window you have where you can give your massive youtube subscribers an idea of what the video is about. You may think that it’s a small piece of information, but it has the potential to make or break your video. Add one and let people know what’s going on in the video, so they’ll understand why they should visit your channel.

This is not something that you should do on YouTube. It’s important to note that a video description is an important place for you to showcase your channel and the quality of your work. If you add your video now when there’s no existing content, people might think that you don’t know much about what you’re doing or will never deliver anything good.

3. Not making your videos relevant: 

Whether you are teaching how to ride a bike, or you are making videos about how to get fit, your videos must have a clear goal. This includes the action steps as well as the specific result of your video. For example, if you are teaching how to ride a bicycle then the video must end with them riding their bike down their street when they finish watching.

Your videos shouldn’t just be any old upload. If you want to rank on YouTube, you need to go through a process; this means making sure that all of your videos are relevant and prepared for marketability.

4. No product reviews: 

This is a very common mistake, but also one that can be very bad for your channel. There was a time when people didn’t want to watch video content unless it was about video games; however, things have changed a bit over the last few years. I’ve included a screenshot of some of the most popular content that YouTube users are searching for.

The point is, if you have something that your viewers are looking for, give them what they want so they will keep coming back to your channel.

5. Creating videos too frequently: 

YouTube doesn’t recommend you create any videos more than once every 2 weeks (if possible). It’s a good rule to follow on YouTube, as too many videos can be a waste of time and resources. This goes for both business owners and people who just like to create content. This is what they consider the ideal frequency of a video! If you’re planning on doing this, then think about how many videos you need to create each day to meet your goal.

Although it’s hard to reach your goal if you’re not creating enough videos, it’s still a smart determinant. This is because people are getting increasingly bored with the same content; therefore, they would rather seek other sources of entertainment. The main objective of a YouTube channel is to entertain the massive youtube subscribers, but that doesn’t mean you should create content every single day.

6. Wrong use of keywords: 

This is one of the biggest mistakes that we have seen from business owners with big audiences on YouTube.

It is difficult to find or reach the right audience for your content if you don’t use the right keywords, and it will be even more difficult to reach them in the first place when you have no idea who they are or what they are looking for. The trick is to find a balance between finding your target niche and using general words that visitors may type into Google’s search bar (e.g., “food recipes”).

In conclusion, these are the top 6 mistakes that I would like to see every YouTuber avoid. It is important to learn from others and don’t get frustrated when you make these mistakes. The biggest mistake that I want everyone to avoid is not building enough trust with your audience. As a result, people will lose interest in your content, subscribers will stop watching it, and the views of your videos will decrease. Your video can be great but if the community doesn’t care about what you are doing, then it will have a low or no impact on their lives. Without a strong audience base for support and reception of your content, then you won’t be able to grow as fast as possible.
